DASA-GIRI – August 2009

In August, art lovers will have a great chance to visit Myanmar Legendry story in ten paintings presented by Arty Art Gallery, “Dasagiri” also known as “Datha-giri” in Myanmar Solo show of Artist Aung Kyaw Tun. He is an aspiring master artist who becomes successful by his paintings about daily activities and religious ceremonies.

This “Dasa-giri” series is based on “Yama Zatdaw”, the Burmese version of “The Ramayana”, legendary ancient Sanskrit epic.

Dasa-giri is the king of Lanka whom received a boon from the creator-god Brahma that he could not be harmed or killed by either gods, demons or spirits. He is known as Dasa-giri because of his ability to produce ten heads and twenty arms.

In this series, the brief life of Dasa-giri is depicted with the artist’s imagination and his fine art. The artist wants the audience to feel and follow the power, success, love, rage and pain in Dasa-giri’s life. How fame and power could corrupt one’s mind and how things would go wrong once one follow blindly after love.

Dasa-giri was an all conquering king who lost everything because of his wrong doing, stealing Sita from Rama who were happily married.

All the greatness of power, love and lessons to learn in Yama Zatdaw are all portrayed though Aung Kyaw Tun’s skilful brushstrokes in ten paintings.

Arty Art Gallery is the one and only largest range of unique Burmese Art collections in Singapore. Arty Art Gallery promotes Myanmar art and artists which also reflects Myanmar cultural and social traditions.

The opening will be on 7th August 2009 from 6pm at the Arts House, Gallery and exhibition from 8th and 9th from 11am to 8pm. The exhibition will continued at Arty Art Gallery 55 Verde View Singapore 688684 by appointment at viewing@artyartgallery until 30th August 2009.
